CUBE started in 1982 as a privately owned, sole proprietorship company and has been operating for over 20 years. In 1987, it was incorporated as a limited, privately owned British Columbia based company.

Formerly known as the Data Base File Tech Group (DBFT), CUBE was originally the product of a merger between Victoria-based "Victoria Filetech & Microfilm" and "Database Storage and Information Systems" (DSIS).
The combination of Victoria Filetech & Microfilm's expertise in vital records storage and management complemented DSIS's 25 year specialization in general storage and data management. With the creation of DBFT, all of these services were now offered from one company, and in the future, one purpose-built location. We are currently located in the Milwest Centre, where construction began in 1991.
In order to provide clients with superior security and service, video surveillance, state-of-the-art palm scans and access card-only doors were installed. Combined with underground vaults and a massive box storage vault, the CUBE Building allowed CUBE to expand its offerings and diversify storage in a way not typically available from one vendor.
The early nineties computer boom marked CUBE's leap into the world of digital storage. No longer did clients only need to store paper records and documents, the digital medium was fast becoming the terminus for vital information and mission critical records. As a result of this shift in perspective, CUBE added another facet to its range of services.

To satisfy the growing computer-driven industries, a specially-built co-location area was created to securely house client computers and servers. Customers could now ensure their servers were running despite network blackouts.
In the following years, CUBE maintained their commitment to adapt to the changes in technology and procedure. We began utilizing Time Navigator™, an innovative software solution from partnered French company Atempo, and disk-based mass-storage hardware from Quantum Corp. This technical architecture allowed clients to backup and archive vital records through the internet, directly from a computer's hard drive.
CUBE is now looking to the global market as the next sustainable resource. While paper and general storage will largely stay locally-based, online data backup is able to traverse any border and provide a viable disaster recovery solution to any country in the world. Moving forward, CUBE hopes to further expand into foreign markets as a provider of online data backup while still focusing on local physical storage and security,
A prime example of the new, borderless digital age, CUBE is constantly expanding its virtual borders with clients in southern United States and as far away as South Korea, while still being proudly owned and operated by local Victorians.
