...with CUBE's Online Server Backup

CUBE's Online Server Backup Service resides in CUBE's ultra-secure post disaster facility. Utilizing the Atempo suite of backup software, Time Navigator, and an existing Internet connection, the mission critical data stored on your servers, storage devices and other computers can be backed up over the Internet on a backup schedule and strategy designed by you.

Time Navigator (TiNa) detects and backs up only the files that have changed since the last backup session. This allows for shorter backup windows, increased efficiency and decreased bandwidth consumption.

Installation of Time Navigator takes only thirty minutes from start to finish, and once the services are running, backups are performed automatically. All data can be compressed and encrypted (which is highly recommended) using 128bit Blowfish cipher. This is completed prior to the data being transmitted to CUBE's facility to ensure the security of each client's data. Disaster recovery is performed, when required, via an Internet connection, quickly and easily from a user-friendly graphical interface.

Data Retention Strategy

Electronic data that is backed up by CUBE's Online Data Backup Service is stored according to a retention schedule. Currently, data is protected and stored in three overlapping, fully accessible forms:

Full Backup

A Full backup is the first operation performed once the agent software is configured. It contains the entire, customer-designated data sets and is retained for a minimum of 30 days.

Incremental Backup

Upon completion of a full backup, incremental backups run on a customer-defined schedule. Incremental backups consist of any data that has changed since the last backup was performed. Incremental backups are retained for a minimuum 30 days.

Synthetic Full Backup

Once every four weeks, CUBE's Time Navigator backup servers initiates a synthetic full backup. The backup compiles the previous cycle of incrementals along with the last full backup in order to create a new, updated and complete data backup. Synthetic full backups are processed directly on CUBE's backup servers and do not utilize network resources. This allows for a significant increase in restoration performance, because the entire data set is accessible from one location. Further, you will notice a decrease in the total cost of ownership as no bandwidth is being used. Synthetic full backups are retained for a minimum of 30 days.
